Assignment 27: Reading Reflection No. 3
The third book that I chose to read was Thinking, Fast and Slow written by Daniel Khaneman. This book allows readers to see the true importance of thinking and acting quick. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. Sure, many people are able to think and react quickly, but rarely can a person do it effectively. In the business world it is essential to think of solutions quickly. However, these ideas and thoughts must be thought about from each angle before you present this idea. If these ideas are not complete, then they can never be fully developed. This is also just an important skill to have even during the interviewing process to show your future employer that you are the best person for this job. I would recommend this book to any person in the business world, and outside of the business world. I think that the skills addressed in this book are useful for every person.
Madison,
ReplyDeleteI actually was almost going to chose that book as my third. I think the idea of expanding on the idea of what quick reactions and thinking can lead too. I really am curious too all the details of the book and how it explained its reasoning behind of all its claims. I agree with you that in order to be involved in the business world you need this trait in order to thrive. I also think all these skills you listed would be useful for people.
Hi Madison, I read this book for my second reading reflection and found it to be as insightful as you did. While most of his writing does not have alot to do directly within the business world, I think you made an very intuitive insight into how we can apply it to the business world. Thinking on your feet is definitely a difficult skill to master, but if you can master it, you will have a leg up against your competition.
ReplyDeleteHey Madison! A buddy of mine read this book for his assignment as well and he told me the same things that you have. The book may not have been outwardly about the business world but you can definitely apply what you learn. It is important to be flexible, not everything can go as planned. The most successful are able to roll with the punches
ReplyDeleteHey Madison! I did not read this book for any of our reading assignments, so it was very interesting to read your reflection. I have never really thought that much about how acting quickly in the business world can make or break your business, but I can see why it is so necessary, especially if you are trying to capitalize on a recent trend in society. I think it would be really valuable to create an assignment that emphasizes strategies on moving quickly in the business world!
