Assignment 21: Reading Reflection No. 2

The second book that I chose to read was "The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Users" By Guy Kawasaki. The central aspect of this book is the explanation of why and how social media plays an essential roll in our lives, society and businesses. Social media is present in so many people's lives, and it is a beneficial platform when looking to advertise. Without social media, business' strategies and tactics would be extremely different from what they are now. This book directly related to this class and helped me learn things for my internship this summer. The author does a great job of explaining how to use social media to your advantage. This summer, I am on the marketing team for Carisk Partners, and much of what I do will involve social media. After reading this book, it is prevalent how much social media affects people and businesses. Many people post things without thinking, and future employers see these social media pages. An assignment based on this book ...

Assignment 20: Growing Your Social Capital

1) Who they are and what their background is. This person is a man in his 40s. He is married, but has no children and has four dogs. He is from New Jersey, and he owns a pet kennel. 2) Which 'slot' you are filling with each person (i.e., domain expert, market expert, supplier), and how the person fills the spot. This person is the domain expert.  3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person. I found this person through my neighbors from home. I was telling them about my homework, and they informed me that their family friend owned a pet kennel. It is small, and it is not at a ski resort, but it is a similar business.  4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation?  This person helped me by giving me basic advice for owning your own business. He knows what it's like to own a pet kennel, so he is the best kind of person to gather information from.  ...

Assignment 19A: Idea Napkin No. 2

1. You: My name is Madison Berardo. I am a third year advertising major at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. I also am working for a concentration in business, too. I have a marketing internship lined up for this summer. Previously, I have completed three other marketing internships as well. I am a very passionate person about the things that I like and the things that I do. I stick to my word, and I usually finish everything I start. This business would play an extremely large part in my life. I would live at Stratton Mountain while opening this business, and even after it opens. I would love living there, especially in the Winter when I would be able to snowboard everyday. I hope that this business does so well, and I could expand it to other mountains. My dream would to do this full time, because it would not feel like a burden for me. 2. What are you offering to customers?: Essentially, I am offering a pet kennel at ski resorts for those who trav...

Assignment 18- Customer Avatar

Image
My service can be sold to women and men of all ages, but for this assignment, I am just going to focus on one person. This man is 35 years-old. He has two children, a wife, and two dogs. This family lives in New Jersey but has a condo in Vermont which they visit in the winter frequently. The mountain that this family chooses to have a condo at is Stratton Mountain located in southern Vermont. They chose Stratton Mountain because it is a well developed and popular mountain in Vermont, and it is not too far to drive to. They also really love how Stratton has a village with shops and restaurants. He enjoys going snowboarding with his kids and his wife, but they always worry about leaving the dogs for too long in the condo. This man drives a Cadillac Escalade; a car big enough for his family and his dogs when necessary. He is middle class- upper class, since going to a ski resort is a relatively expensive trip. However, not all of the people using this product have to fit that range,...

Assignment 17: Elevator Pitch 2

Image
After my last elevator pitch, I received a lot of positive feedback. People praised the idea of talking about the prices and hours during my elevator pitch. Therefore, I was sure to include that again in this elevator pitch. This time, I also included why I chose the mountain that I chose. I thought that this was important because I did choose a very specific mountain to first open my service. I also was sure to not use a webcam or sit down. People were also very fond of the idea of Snow Paws, which was very reassuring. I made sure that I included all of the necessary components of the pitch, while also switching it up from last time.
