Assignment 21: Reading Reflection No. 2
The second book that I chose to read was "The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Users" By Guy Kawasaki. The central aspect of this book is the explanation of why and how social media plays an essential roll in our lives, society and businesses. Social media is present in so many people's lives, and it is a beneficial platform when looking to advertise. Without social media, business' strategies and tactics would be extremely different from what they are now. This book directly related to this class and helped me learn things for my internship this summer. The author does a great job of explaining how to use social media to your advantage. This summer, I am on the marketing team for Carisk Partners, and much of what I do will involve social media. After reading this book, it is prevalent how much social media affects people and businesses. Many people post things without thinking, and future employers see these social media pages. An assignment based on this book would be to make or edit a LinkedIn page and submit it. Linkedin is used around the world, and as business professionals, it is crucial to have an updated page. My biggest surprise when reading this book was just how important social media is. Our generation has grown up with social media and is accustomed to it. People take advantage of it and criticize it without always recognizing its importance.

Madison, I almost chose to read that book instead of the one I did. It seemed that it would be very helpful to understand the world of social media. From what you said it seems that it did exactly that! The world would be in such a different place if it weren't for social media today. It has allowed business and many other corporations to expand their power. But not only the business aspect it also effects mostly every single person's daily life of living.
ReplyDeleteHi Madison, I also chose to read this book and was surprised as well about how he encourages the use of social media and how it is able to positively influence our lives, when we are hearing all the time how social media is ruining our lives. It is a good idea to incorporate LinkedIn with this ideology, and it is true that social media plays a huge role in our lives and especially in the business world.
ReplyDeleteHey Madison, I also agree with you that social media is a huge part of our lives now and it is essential for every business to have people who are experts on social media. A company nowadays can have a bad social media presence and be completely ruined. I also think that we take for granted that many older employees lack the social media knowledge we have since they did not grow up with it so it really gives us an edge and makes us stand out to employers.
