Assignment 8- Solving the Problem

I believe that I thought of a solution that would help all of the people who are stressed and worried when they bring their dog(s) to the ski resort with them. My solution is to open pet-care facilities at ski resorts. To start, I am going to open a pet-care facility at Stratton Mountain in Vermont, because that is the mountain I frequent and it would be the first place to test it out. Stratton mountain has a village at the main base. My plan is to purchase one of the open storefronts and turn it into a pet care place. This facility would provide the service of boarding the dogs during the hours that the mountain is open to ensure the owners that their pets are in good hands. In addition to boarding, free play time, belly rubs, and food would also be included in the price. If a person is staying on the mountain and would rather leave their animals at home, the pet care place would also offer employees to go to their house, condo or hotel room. This service would allow the skiers and snowboarders to bring their pets with them on ski trips and have a day out on the mountain worry-free.

  1. Hi Madison, I think your idea is a simple, but effective way of addressing the need. Does something like this already exist? I would think that resorts would have thought of something like this already, but if not, I think you found an excellent solution you can exploit. Furthermore, I think a service like this is even more effective due to the house visits you mentioned. If it can save resort visitors more time to ski and snowboard, I think they would pay a premium to do so.

  2. Hi Madison, I really like your solution and think it is great for anyone on vacation with their dog. I like how the employees can also go to the hotel room or house if they do not want to bring them to the resort, I'm sure many skiers would opt for this option and have a fun day without having to worry if their pet is hungry or needs to go out. I also think this pet care facility can be opened in other vacation hot spots, not just ski resorts. Many people are always traveling with pets and have a hard time bringing them to certain activities.

  3. Hey Madison, this idea is so simple but ingenious. Anyone who is a skier like you and myself have a knowledge on the importance of having this idea implemented. No one wants to leave their dog at home for a 4 day family vacation where they cant make any memories with the family dog. My dog loved the snow and i'm positive many other dogs are the same. This is a great idea and I hope it came come to fruition.

  4. Hey I have been following your pet care facility from early on in the class. I am glad you are continuing to use that opportunity. I think if you potentially create more details and a more defined plan you can maybe approach these ski companies. Also, one thing you could do is survey more people who have this specific problem.
