Assignment 14- Halfway Reflection
This class has really helped me manage my time better. This semester I have four online classes and one in person. Each of my online classes requires many hours each week. This class seems to take up the most time, so I really have gotten better at planning my days to ensure I don't miss any assignments. Instead of trying to take the short cuts, I have been watching all my lectures and taking good notes. By doing this I feel more organized and less stressed on a day to day basis.
Tenaciousness is also about attitude.
A moment that I felt like giving up this semester was during a week when I had so many assignments that I did not know how I was going to finish all of them. To name a few of the assignments I had a ten page paper due, a content marketing project due for a different class, three total discussions, the two blogs for this class, a quiz and an exam. I was extremely overwhelmed at first and I did not even know where to start. I took a step back and then took that week day by day making sure that I did not waste any time. I knew that I would get it all done, but I still could not wait until it was over. I thought about all the good things I had coming up and that the school work would subside soon. I put the stress aside and just focused on completing each assignment.
The past two months I feel like my work ethic has improved. I am also way more interested in my classes now that I am taking classes for my major only. My biggest motivation is my excitement for the future while still cherishing the present. I am excited for my internship and all that comes after graduation, which motivates me to do well in school overall. I also know that it is important to live in the moment and enjoy my time in college which is my motivation to get all my work done so that way I can enjoy my days left at UF.
Three tips.
1)Do not try to take the short cut, it will end up just taking longer in the end.
2)Don't be discouraged if things do not come easy at first. It is normal and ideas may not come easy at first, but keep an open mind.
3)The first step is fully committing to what you say or an idea. Nothing will be accomplished unless you are all in. Begin.

Hi Mads,
ReplyDeleteYour post is inspiring. I have been guilty of trying to take short cuts and I too have found that it’s just better to do it the way the instructor intended, step by step. This is so true that it makes the stress subside and enables you to absorb the information the way you are supposed to. I also liked your remarks about getting through the inevitable overloaded weeks with too many assignments piling up. I agree that just starting with the first one that is due, kind of scheduling how much overall time you have and then looking at the dates and points you’ll achieve, is the best approach to starting a week like that. As you knock off one assignment then another, you feel pretty good and accomplished.
Hi Mads, I really like your three responses to the advice question. "Not taking shortcuts" is something that is very important to instill in yourself at the very beginning. Understanding that when you do not do what is required will come back around to bite you is very important to not wasting time. I often find that when I try to get by by doing the bare minimum, I often get a unintended result. Also your third piece of advice is equally important, as I believe others will notice when you do not have conviction in something you are saying.
