Things That Bug Me- Assignment 2
1) When people from New Jersey call Pork Roll, Taylor Ham
This really bothers me because the brand name is Taylor and nowhere on the box says "Taylor Ham". The Box says, Taylor Pork Roll.
2) When I am driving, it really bothers me when I am behind someone who does not use their blinker when they are turning.
This bothers me because it's the law and it takes no effort to put your blinker on.
3) When my United Airlines flights are delayed flying out of Newark, NJ airport
This really bothers me because United pretty much runs Newark Airport. They have their own terminal, so they also have the most convenient flight times. My flights are delayed more than they aren't.
4) Coming home after a long day to dirty dishes in the sink
This bothers me because dirty dishes are dirty, it's different than clutter, which doesn't bother me.
5) When silverware clinks together, either at a restaurant or while my mom is putting it away
The sound of silverware clinking together is like nails on a chalkboard for me.
6) When dog or cat hair gets on my clothes
I love my pets, but I hate when their hair gets on my clothes, specifically black leggings.
7)When my roommates borrow my clothes without asking
I have kind of expensive taste in clothes, so it bothers me because I am worried that something is going to get ruined.
8)When people litter
It is so easy to find a trash can, so I don't understand why people just throw things on the ground for other people to pick up.
9) When I'm at dinner with friends or family and someone speaks over me
This bothers me because I am mid-sentence, so why would someone decide to just start talking.
10)When people don' stop asking questions during a movie
This bothers me because if you just sit and watch the movie, you will understand.
11)When someone wakes me up from a nap for no good reason
I am sleeping and there is no real reason to wake me up, so please don't.
12)When people do not tip their waiter or waitress
I have worked in a restaurant for many years so I think its rude when people do not tip their server.
13) When people say that President Donald Trump "is not their President"
Yes, Donald Trump is, in fact, your President whether you like it or not.
14)When people talk badly about law enforcement
Law enforcement is meant for your safety, and they will answer your call at any hour. Respect them and do not refer to them as "pigs".
15)When college students talk badly about other students because they have nice things at our age
If some one's parents want to buy them nice material things, they have every right. It is no one's business how much money someone else has and it's not their place to make negative comments.
16) When people college students cannot have an educated conversation about politics
So many students are set in their thoughts, and are not willing to hear a different opinion without arguing it from the start.
17)When I argue with a family member and end the day still angry with them
Anything can happen to anyone at any moment and I really do not like fighting with my family members.
18)When my roommates leave something that is empty in the fridge
Sometimes, I would come home and be really excited to eat something and then I would grab it and realize its empty.
19)When my roommates see that the trash is full, but don't take it out
If you see the trash is full, take it out. We live on the first floor of our apartment and the dumpster is not far away.
20)When some random person parks in my reserved spot at my apartment complex
The spot is labeled "reserved," don't park in it. Find a spot that is not reserved.
I found this task to be somewhat challenging. At first, I thought of the first five easily. Then, I kind of got stuck and asked my roommates and mom what they think bothers me. After I had some inspiration, my thoughts started to flow more. After listing 20 things that bother me, I realized a lot of them had to do with organization, respect and doing the right thing.

Madison, I really agree with pretty much all of these things! I absolutely hate when my roommates see that the trash is full and don't take it out. What irks me even more is when this happens after THEY had people over. They were not MY guests, so take out your own trash. I am also an avid napper and I honestly get really, really grumpy when people wake me up as well. It's funny to read these posts and find things in common with other students that I thought may have been unique to me!

ReplyDeleteA lot of your bugs actually resonated with me. The one about dirty dishes is a definite pet peeve for sure. Also, I'm not sure how you can handle your roommates taking your clothes. I think for this assignment you hit the note but I do think you should have explained more about why this problem occurs not how it makes you feel.

ReplyDeleteMadison, I really resonated with #9 and #11. I do not understand how people can think it is appropriate to speak over someone else when they are talking. I cant emphasize enough how much I value a good night sleep, so when I get woken up by noisy neighbors who do not have consideration for others, I really get frustrated. I think you put good effort into your bug lists, with some of your categories being things I did not think of when I created my own.

ReplyDeleteHey Madison! I found a lot of your things on your Bug List really funny because I thought I was the only person who got bugged by so many of these things. I laughed really hard at #1 because I’m a New Yorker and don’t understand why anyone calls it Taylor Ham OR a Pork Roll because we just call it a bacon egg and cheese. I also relate a lot to #3, as every time I fly home into Newark my flight is almost ALWAYS delayed and I can never land in Jacksonville at a decent hour.
Madison, very surprisingly we have many similarities in stuff that came to bother the both of us. Such as your examples from 2-4, 9-12, and 18-19. I think you did a really good job of figuring out a variety of different things that bother you and you deduced very good reasoning for why these things occur. With a mindset like that it will be easier for you moving forward in becoming an entrepreneur!
ReplyDeleteMadison, I really like your bug list cause I agree with so many of them. I really hate when people argue over politics not knowing any facts and try to shove their opinions down your face. I also really like the "why" to each of your bugs. #19 also really resonates with me because my roomates NEVER take out the trash and one of my roomates has a cat and just throws her cat's poop outside of our door for days...so gross.
